Latest BMW 5 Series Frequently Asked Questions:

  • When is the new BMW 5 Series released in the UK?
Looking at buying a 5 series but wondering if its worth waiting for the new model to be realeased as hopefully prices will drop on the older models.
Answer:I'm not a big sales specialist but I do know that even with a new model entering the market, the price on the previous models doesn't drop a lot. So if you find a good deal on the car that you want, take it.

  • How much would it cost to install the Professional Navigation system for my BMW 5 Series?
I have a 2005 BMW 525 but do not have any navigation on my iDrive. How much would it coist BMW to update iDrive with this system? Have any of you had your BMW's updated with it? Any UK answers. Sorry guys not being rude...
    Answer:NAV is stupid. Buy a map !

  • What is the best cold air intake for a BMW 5 series 97-01?
I'm purchasing a 98 BMW 528i and I'm considering picking up a cold air kit. There is a lot out there and was just wondering which brand offers the best performance/quality for the price.
Answer:You'll gain MAYBE 2 or 3 horsepower. Those claims that the manufacturers make of 40 a horsepower are bogus. If you are just doing an intake and nothing else, you could probably skip out on it and put that money elsewhere - you won't really notice a big difference. If you are doing FI (forced induction, turbo), they can help a bit. Dinan makes good stuff, but they are kinda pricey.

Answer:Decent cars, but expensive maintenance. Cost of ownership depends on your location, the condition of the car mechanically, the type of loan you get, etc. No way to realistically answer your questions

  • Is £9000 worth it for a high mileage BMW 5 Series new shape?
I have seen a 2005 BMW 525D new shape with black leather seats going for £9000. It has 108000 miles but is in perfect condition and appears stunning. Is this a good deal? What do you think?
Answer:The crucial question is service history. A car of this calibre should have been regularly serviced throughout its life. If the documentation proves this you have little to worry about as it will do double this mileage with ease. If the docs aren't there I would walk away. Simple as that.
