Latest Buick LeSabre Frequently Asked Questions:
Its a 97 buick lesabre and i was wondering what kind of program i could put on a laptop and change some of the shift points, etc by directly connecting it to the car without buying a chip for it. Thanks
Answer:its a 97 which means its OBD2, which means there is no computer chip to change. search google for "obd2 tuner" and you should be able to find quite a few programs that will do it, some are free, too.
I just want to how to change the heater core in a 2003 Buick Lesabre. Anyone know?
Answer:You don't - if it's like most I've seen, it's a big and I mean BIG job. You have to take the whole inside of the car apart. This is not a DYI project.
How do I tighten the alternator belt on a 1983 Buick LeSabre with the 305 V-8. I can get it loosened at the pivot bolt and at the two adjusting bolts, but can't fine the leverage to move the alternator enough to get the belt to tighten. Any ideas/solutions? Thanks, Dale
Answer:after you loosen the bolts stick a pry bar or crow bar between the alternator and apply pressure until the belt is tight then tighten the bolts
I have a Buick Lesabre 2000 and the only problem I've had is with the windows. Whenever I had that problem, I sent the car to the dealer under insurance coverage and they would fix it. Now, I have no longer insurance and my window recently broke down again. Can you help me on how to uncover the door and what piece(s) I have to change? thanks.
Answer:Before you start on this, please realize that it is not a job for amateurs. There are relays involved, and a lot of electrical connections. My suggestion, is to go to the library, and see if they have a Buick manual, showing what you need to look for. Borrow it out, so you've got a better "helper" than what information you will get here. I'm not trying to be a know it all, it's just a lot of complicated "stuff"
I have a choice between a 1994 Buick LeSabre with the 3.8 V6 which has 120k on the car, the car itself is beautiful, no rust, completely beautiful. And I could also pick a 1991 Ford Taurus, with 110k on the car and a little bit of rust but not too bad. The Buick is for $1100 and the Taurus is for $800. I have $1500 available to spend but don't want to have all of that stuck into repairs. What should I get????
Answer:You did not say what size engine the Ford has. The Buick is a well built car and worth the money - but will still drink gas like a drunk. the Ford may or may not depends on the engine. The Ford has a history of annoying problems, not fatal. Mostly electrical .
