Latest Ford Fiesta Frequently Asked Questions:
I have a '96 ford fiesta which comes with no rear speakers. I want to put some on the parcel shelf, hopefully some 6x9s. I have an upgraded head unit so do i need to buy a seperate amp to power them? How do i wire them up and where would the wires go?
Answer:As long as you only have 2 speakers running off the deck already, you'll be fine running another set without an amp. If, however, you already have 4 speakers running off it, then you will have to pick up a 2 channel to run them. As far as wiring goes, that comes down to you. You obvisouly have to get the wire from the speakers to the deck, so look around in the vehicle for a path. Usually you run the speaker wire underneath the carpet, by removing all the plastic trim, but you have to be careful because you can easily break the plastic if you pull too forcefully. Once you have routed it to the rear of the stereo, you will want to find a manual for your specific stereo, and locate whichever two sets of speaker leads are not currently in use (they will usually be the same color). Splice them together and you are good to go.
I disconnected the battery on my car to fit a new horn and now the radio/cassette player is asking for a code which i don't have (wasn't in the docs when i brought the car) The car is a P reg Ford Fiesta LX 1299cc and the radio is the standard Ford one, with just a cassette player and radio (my cd player gor stolen *sob*) Is there anywhere on the inturwebs or anywhere else that i can get the code without paying for it (or paying very little if i must!?1!?)? Do i need more info than this to get a code?
Answer:Take it to your local Ford Dealer. I worked for dealers for years and we never charged anyone for unlocking their radio. It's commonly held to be a "free" service. Don't make the mistake of assuming that the local dealer is your enemy, their not and they are willing to do things like unlock your radio to gain your business.
I have lost my Ford Fiesta 2002 spare key, and now I only have one key. I want to make a copy, so how much is it going to cost me and where can I get it done. I already know I can get it done from a Ford dealership, but they will proberly charge too much, any other places? I'm from Leicester, UK. The key does have a chip.
Answer:Go check out a lock smith if they dont have it in stock they can order it for yah or tell you where to go to get one. I have no clue if the 02 Ford Fiesta has a chip in the key I am guessing not. If there is no chip in the key the cost should be pretty reasonable. Usually the locksmith will pull out your ignition and make you a key from the key code. Without a chip I'm guessing under a 100 bucks. Just depends on their pricing.
Managed to scratch 5-6 thin lines- some not even through the underpaint (white) and very slightly dent back wheel arch- on a ford fiesta (metallic painted). Been told it will cost £598 (taking 11 hours to repair). I feel i am being conned...what does anyone think? unfortunately was a hire car so no option of doing repair myself!
Answer:i have my own bodyshop and have been painting cars for over 20 years. Without actually seeing the car it is not possible to give you a precise figure but i would imagine i could make the damaged area look like new for less than £300. Obviously labour rates vary across the country but your quote does sound quite expensive. I'm based in East Midlands, if you're anywhere near then e mail me if you want further info.
I have lost the only set of keys to my ford fiesta and do not know how to go about getting a replacement? It is a 2000 model, isn't electronic or anything like that. Also any guidance on how much it would cost would be much appreciated.
Answer:I'm going to be honest with you. It could cost a lot but lets go for the cheapest option first. If you have the handbook and documents, somewhere in there should be a card possibly the size of a credit card. This is the Key Code Card. Take this to your local Ford dealer with some ID and proof of ownership and they will order a new set for you. If you don't have the KCC, give the Ford dealer a ring and ask them if they can get it from Ford UK. They should be able to but it can take a while and they will give you the third degree (to make sure you're not a thief). There is always the possibility that the whole lock set will have to be replaced. This is the absolute last resort and could cost anything from £400 (back street) to £1000+ (main dealer). I'm sure Ford will be understanding and good luck.
