Latest Mazda 2 Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Can I put the head back on my 1984 Mazda b2000 without 2 of the head guides?
There are 10 head bolts. 6 of them have aluminum head guides that the bolts run through. I ruined 2 of them and want to know if I can put the head back on without those guides. They are in the front of the engine. I called the Mazda dealer and the guides have been discontinued. Cannot find any around town in the junk yards.
Answer:You can use copper tubing, the same size and cut it to lenght.

  • Which do you think is a cooler car - The Ford Fiesta Mk6 or the Mazda 2 DE?
    And more importantly why?
Answer:The Fiesta plainly on cosmetics because the Fiesta and 2 are on the same platform and have similar spec sheets and driving characteristics.

  • Anyone have any idea what the lowest price i could get for a new mazda 2 paying by cash? (haggling)?
Anyone have any idea about what the lowest price would be for a new mazda 2 ts2 due to the current financial situation as dealers will be crying out for sales?
Answer:You would be much better buying a pre reg car,if you hang on until about 2 months after the new reg comes out and the new one is due you could get thousands off. I always do that and get a brand new no mileage car for a massive saving on new,I got 4k off my last one. The dealers need to get rid of any cars they have left from the previous reg before the new one comes in and lets face it because a new reg comes out every 6 months now, there are lots of bargains to be had...good luck and still haggle for a while about the price, they want rid, and your in the driving seat (excuse the pun) lol.

  • could a sporadic idle be caused by a bad water pump on a Mazda 2.5L?
It is on a 1995 ford probe gt. Idles sporadically between 1k to 1.5k or holds a steady idle at 2.5k. Vacuum leaks do not seem apparent and the Throttle body sensor is functional adjusting the idle speed adjusting screw makes no difference. it is already on the slowest setting and still idling high
Answer:Idle timers for ford motors back in that era were always a problem. The idel timer will help to control the idle of the car when the pedal is not pressed down. Once you press the pedal the timer is no longer needed so it shuts itself off. Just have it checked and serviced. It's not a major problem it's just an annoying problem. Forunately they no longer use those old fasioned timers anyways. Just have it adjusted and you'll be alright.

  • Where is the camshaft Position sensor on a 2.3L Mazda 6i?
Where is the camshaft Position sensor on a 2.3L Mazda 6i? Please be specific! I understand that it is located at the rear of the engine..but i still can't find it. A picture would be fine!
Answer:it is either on your distributor or next to your cam gear... behind the harmonic balancer. its easy to chang just have to take a couple things apart.. now mine was mounted wrong and wires were exposed so i just cut spliced then re routed the wires. also clean the balancer plate it measures on.. collects alot of black gunk on it... break cleaner works best. and clean magnant if equipped. it might just have a little hole it sits in which you dint have to do anything. it just measures timing of cam gear.
