What is the difference between the SL550, SL55 AMG, SL63 AMG, SL600, and the SL65 AMG? Which model do you get the most out of your money? Also, rank the models please from newest to oldest
Answer:Alright...let's clear up some misconceptions posted above. While Benz models past regularly used the displacement of the engine as the model number, Benz has strayed from this with their most recent models. In the SL line-up, the only model that still sticks with this tradition is the SL550. It has a 5461cc V8 engine, which, rounded-up, comes up as a 5.5 L. The other vehicles listed above, the SL600 has a bi-turbo 5513cc V12 engine so it is actually 5.5L as well, not a 6.0 L as the name suggests The SL63 has a 6208cc V8 engine so it is a 6.2 L, not a 6.3 L as the name suggests. In the case of the 6.3, the name comes from the 40th anniversary of the founding of AMG. It was the first engine that AMG modified. The SL65 has a 5980cc bi-turbo V12 engine so it is a 6.0 L, not a 6.5 L as the name would suggest. The engine is the main difference but other differences are that the V8's use a 7-speed auto transmission but the V12 models use the older 5-speed auto. This is because the newer 7-speed cannot handle the torque of the V12 engines. Also, the higher end models have more standard equipment, some of which is either optional, or not even available on the lower end SL models.
i think there is 4 or 5 cuz britney spears was able to fit her kids in that car?
Answer:2 seats. Older SLs, from the late 1970s, did offer models that had tiny seats in the back, but not since then. There is a small parcel shelf behind the seats, but there are no seats or seatbelts. Of course, that doesn't mean Britney wouldn't shove her kids back there.
I'm waiting to buy an SL, but looking at the slight redesign and engine increase in 2007 SL 550 and the fact that a new CL was released, does anyone have an idea when the new SL will be released, and what will it look like?
Answer:The SL was redesigned for 1963, 1972, 1989, and 2001. Given that and the fact that the SL550 and SL63 just received new engines, don't expect a redesign any time soon. The release of the CL shortly followed that of the S because they are essentially the same car underneath, but that doesn't go for the SL. I don't have any concrete evidence and haven't seen any spy shots, which I think further supports my opinion. :-) If you're waiting to buy an SL, now would be the best time before the major redesign which will likely happen next decade, since the engine's new (don't expect that to happen again till then).
I mean, does it have all of the same features and stuff, just as a coupe
Answer:Mercedes' lineup is really confusing, but the S in SL refers to sport, rather than the class of the car, like the S class sedan. Later this year/early next year, Mercedes will be updating and renaming its CL class coupe, which is based on the S class, the S Class Coupe, in the same way that they have renamed the CLK class the E Class Coupe. It's Mercedes trying to simplify their lineup... The SL is the top of the line sports roadster. It's a lot shorter lower etc and is based on a totally different platform. Hope this helps!!
Answer:probably not sorry. collectible cars are usually the ones that revolutionized the market. like the ford model t, the original beetle, mustang, etc.
