Hi, My Mercury Grand Marquis pick up coil has broken all up and the car will not start going to pick up one today along with a new rotor button since it has to be remove to put the pick up coil on I need to know how to install the pick up coil do I have to remove the distributor or not? Please help
Answer:Yes, the distributor needs to be removed and partially disassembled to replace the pickup coil. Ford had a program on these back in then, but it is now expired. If it hasn't been replaced, I suggest replacing the TFI Ignition module as well. It is easier if you have a manual for reference. However, if you are not familiar with the vehicle, I suggest taking it to a dealer or repair shop. It might even be more cost effective to just get a reman distributor. The detailed procedure to remove the distributor, replace the pickup coil and reinstall the distributor would take more space than allowed here to document. Let me know if you need further assistance.
I have noticed a rattling noise coming from under the hood of my 1991 mercury grand marquis. It only happens when idling in drive and usually only in the mornings or whenever I first start it and drive it. But at different times I'll hear it all day. I keep reading that its a throwout bearing or something to do with the clutch but my cars an automatic. I don't know what it could be and all that usually ask about this has a stick shift. So I would greatly appreciate any helpful feedback you can give me. Thank you.
Answer:have someone look under the hood when you start it up

I'm trying to locate the pcv valve on my 1990 mercury grand marquis to replace it but i cant find it. sites have told me it's behind the intake manifold but i've look numerous time and have yet to find it!... any help would be great! pictures would be great!
Answer:Your PCV valve is located in the lower intake manifold towards the rear of the engine. To find it wait till your engine is cool, lay across the top of the engine so you can reach down between the upper intake plenum and the fire wall. Feel around on the back side of the upper plenum and you will find a hose approximately 3/4 inch in diameter, follow the hose down and you will find the PCV valve in the end of it pressed into a grommet in the lower intake manifold.
