Latest Mercury Montego Frequently Asked Questions:
is a 1973 mercury montego v-8 351W considered a muscle car? one of the sites categorized it in muscle while the rest categorized it in mid-size
Answer:yes the mercury montego two door would be a good base for a muscle car. you dont have to have a gto or a charger for a car to be a muscle car. its about the potential of a car that makes it a muscle car. the chevy chevell was grandmas car till you did a little work and then you had a monster. the Montego is cool because the two door body has good lines and the 351 windsor even though not as nice as the cleveland is still one hell of a fast motor. I made a monster muscle car when I was younger out of a 65 ford galaxie 500. the fact that its not a typical car used makes it even cooler
i have a Nissan sentra that doesnt run anymore but the transmissions great, and i wonder if it would fit into my montego, which i would love to be a manual. Its an automatic now.
Answer:it won't fit and wouldn't handle the horsepower if it did..
I have the switch brand new from Kragen but i dont know how to install it and I cant find it on the web. There was never a switch in it so i dont have anything to go by.
Answer:the brake light switch is at the top of the brake pedal under the dash, it will have a clip that holds a small pin that keeps the brake light switch in place, its not that hard to do , if you have a skinny small friend have them do it, as there is not alot of room under the dash
Where is Mercury Montego's cabin air filter? Thank you
Answer:Have a look behind the glove box. You will be looking for a narrow cover either clipped or screwed in. if not there try in the enclosure in engine bay below wipers. Good Luck
Does anyone now about the Mercury Montego? i don`t see it on the road that often. i do see it`s cousin the Ford 500 alot. i like the way the Montego looks, i have gone to the dealship when they are closed and looked at the Ford 500 and the Mercury Montego, and i like both of them, they are pretty much the same car. one a ford and the other a mercury. but i find the montego styling more appealing than the 500. but which one would be better to get? and to the montego owners out there or know someone who owns one are they good cars? or would i have better luck with the 500?
Answer:Mechanically identical, Merc has better styling, that's what you will pay the little extra for.A Ford is a Ford is a Ford. I personally think the 500 was a Ford marvel. Not quit enough power for a hot-rodder but great all around car, Too bad they changed the transmission, a new 06 would be a great find.Ask about the earlier transmissions
