I just purchased a 1999 Mercury Sable from a used car dealership. It didn't come with a CD player, so I wanted to use a CD/Tape converter. When I went to plug the tape in, I found another one jammed inside the cassette deck. Eject and a small screwdriver/knife could not remove the tape without damage to the front face plate. I was wondering if there's a way to remove the face plate from the dashboard so that I can get to the cassette deck. The face plate has four small holes on the sides (2 on each side), and I've come to the conclusion that that's how it's attached, but I don't know how to detach it. Does anybody know how?
Answer:Buy some keys at your local stereo shop (or most auto parts stores have them). They are only a couple bucks and will save you a lot of headache. You can make your own but if you aren't careful its very easy to bend those clips that hold it in and then its almost impossible to get the radio out in one piece.
I have a 2000 mercury sable, it only has one belt and the air compressor locked up and as a result busted the belt. I already know if i don't replace the air compressor the belt will bust again, but right now i don't have enough money to buy the part let alone the labor, is there anyway i can buy a smaller belt and by pass the compressor. I have seen it done before but with cars that have 2 belts, mine only has one. Thanks for your input
Answer:it depends on if the clutch it locked up ot the compressor. if its just the compressor locked up unplug the copressor clutch wires it will keep it from kicking in. then your belt will be ok. if its your clutch it will have to be replaced. i doubt taking it off will help due to clearance problems. but try unplugging the wires im sure that will fix your problem
I have automatic locks in my 2003 Mercury sable. When I try to unlock the doors the rear driver side will not unlock. I have tried using the buttons inside the car, the remote, and manually pulling up on the lock. Any suggestions?
Answer:When you do any of this does it sound like the actuator is working? If it is, something has most likely came apart inside. {rod, clip.etc.}

I have a 2001 Ford Mercury Sable that has 16 inch rims. I am looking for rims that will fit it but I can not find a Sable in the junk yard. I was just wondering if any other car rims would interchange with the Sable. Like maybe a dodge?
Answer:The Ford Taurus is the only other model that I know of.
