Latest Oldsmobile Eighty Eight LSS Frequently Asked Questions:
In the car there is a temperature center when it tells you the temp outside and allows to customize the temp you want it inside. While the last 3 days that temp control light keeps staying on after I shut off the car. Sometimes I will restart the car and shut it off to try to get it to turn off and sometimes it will work, but then when I get back to the car the light is back on again. The one night it kept turning the fan on and heating the car, and it ended up killing the battery. Im just wondering what the problem could be or how I could fix it.
Answer:The most common cause is a shorted blower motor control module, which then backfeeds the climate control head. It also causes the fan to run after the car is shut off, draining the battery. Sometimes, it just a bad blower control module(mounted on top of the case at the firewall, engine side, under the power distribution center), but a blower motor going bad and drawing too many amps can accelerate the problem. we've changed literally dozens of the blower control modules on the full-size Olds, buicks, cads, and pontiacs in the last few years. Theres' probably nothing wrong with the alternator or battery......................

My brother just bought a 1998 Oldsmobile. He was told by the dealer that it's an eighty-eight, however on the bumper it says LSS, and when we ran the VIN number online, one website said LSS and another website said 88 LSS. How can we tell if it's an 88, an LSS or an 88 LSS?
Answer:Olds 88 LSS It stands for Luxury Sport Sedan, which means it's a performance upgrade over the basic 88. Here's what you get when you google it: http://www.google.com/search?q=olds+88+lss&rls=com.microsoft:en-us&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&startIndex=&startPage=1
