my dad had a 81 olds ninety eight regency brougham that was a diesel. i was just wondering what size diesel this was and specs and stuff.
Answer:5.7 liter V8, 105 hp or there abouts. Naturally aspirated (no blower). Prone to head gasket failure due to not enough bolts around each cylinder; if pushed. Take it easy and will be okay. Best way for a mild increase in power with minimal adverse effects on the engine is large diameter dual exhaust. GM really strangled engines back then. With a decent exhaust and free flowing intake, the engine would make 125 hp or more. It is not a strong engine, being based on the gasoline Oldsmobile V8. Many of the diesel engines were converted to gasoline racing engines because they were stronger.
