Latest Oldsmobile Ninety Eight Regency Frequently Asked Questions:
I have a 1991 oldsmobile Ninety-Eight regency and when I am driving past the speed of 40 mph, the car vibrates and the steering wheel shakes. Also, at low speeds, say 2-5 mph, the car wobbles a little. SUGGESTIONS!!!!!!
Answer:A bad tire(s) or balanced tire(s) may cause this problem. This is easy and fairly cheap to have checked & fixed. If this does not resolve the problem then you need to check the suspension and steering systems, which is more complicated and expensive. Go to a garage that you trust and have this checked out.
I have a 1991 oldsmobile Ninety-Eight regency. When I am driving, the left front wheel give this studdering knocking sound sometimes (all the time over bumps) and gives my car a vibration feel. I also hear a knock or a thump sound when I turn. Answers?
Answer:Check for (A) Loose lug nuts. Re-tighten them in a cross-pattern if loose. Or (B) If it's a front wheel drive car-you might have a CV joint that's shot on that side. Replacement is the only cure.
I recently purchased an '88 Ninety-Eight Regency with LOW mileage (about 35,000). It sat for a long time. Long story short, it decided not to start one day. It does not seem to be getting any spark. It has gas, it has power, and it tries to turn over. It just does not catch. I already had to change out the ignition coil and the ignition control module, so I thought one of those parts was bad. Turns out, nope, they were fine. If anyone has any ideas, let me know. Thanks.
Answer:Have you checked the ignition fuse.Do you have power at the distributor? Are the distributor connecters plugged in?Check the graphite stem in the distributor cap,it could be stuck or broken.Check fuse links connected to the starter, one could have a open circuit.Make sure water temp sensor is working properly as a defective one may cause a no start..Check for 5 volt reference at the throttle possition sensor.Good luck.
ok so here's my problem my car recently had trouble getting into gears. so i discovered that the radiator water was mixed with oil and i checked the engine dipstick, but it was fine, then i checked the transmission oil dipstick, and was the same mixure color as the radiator. kind of light brownish chocolate color. so i dropped the transmission oil pan and it was full of this stuff. when it all finished dripping, i poured more water into the radiator, and i saw it was leaking from 2 pipes inside the transmission where the oil pan was. but the lines weren't broken or old looking, rather it was leaking from the joint. so my questions are as follows. 1. is this fixable 2. how much will it cost 3. can i do it myself 4. do i have to take out the whole transmission 5. do i need a whole new transmission ok, and the car is a 1985 oldsmobile ninety-eight regency thanks in advance
Answer:Don't listen to these nitwits. You're getting water in the transmission because the transmission fluid cooler inside the radiator is leaking. The transmission is likely ok if you caught it quick. You need to replace the radiator. The transmission fluid circulates through the radiator to keep it a constant temperature. You'll also need to flush the transmission when you replace the radiator. Not just service it. Flush it. If you can replace the radiator yourself, you'll only be out $100 for a radiator and $60 or so for the 20 quarts of tranny fluid you'll need, or $100 for a shop to flush the tranny.

Answer:I would go with the 2003 Concorde it is 5 years newer than 2nd choice, it is great on gas for a little bigger car, The stratus would be 2nd choice. Stay away from the lincoln the air bag level system is very expensive. the Masda would be considered a sports car and insurance would be more. the buick is 16 years old both 92s are 18 yrs old, and worse on gas. so that would be a no brainer for me. I had a concorde it got around 20mpg. GL!!!!
