  • What Is The Transmission Fluid Capacity 1993 Plymouth Acclaim?
I just purchased a 1993 Plymouth Acclaim for $350. At first, the tranny was slipping a lot, but after I added transmission fluid to it, the performance increased dramatically. I've added a quart so far, and I'm only seeing a significant amount of fluid on about 3/4 inch of the dip stick. I think I need to add more, but I DON'T want to over-fill it. Does anyone know what the transmission fluid capacity is for this car - or the steps I can take so that I don't over-fill it? Thanks!
Answer:1993 Plymouth Acclaim was offered with either the A413 (31TH) 3spd automatic with the 2.5L 4cyl. or the A604 (41TE) 4spd OD automatic with the 3.0L V-6 Both use ATF+4 , a highly friction modified fluid. The total fluid capacity on the 31TH is 8.7-9.2 quarts, depending on cooling system package. Normal refill capacity during a filter change, is 4-5 quarts. The fluid capacity of the 41TE is 8.9 - 9.5 quarts depending on cooling package, again the standard filter replacement fill will be between 4-5 quarts. Transaxle should be at operating temp., (180 degrees), and on level ground, place shift lever in each position returning to park before checking , the level should fall between the add and full marks. When adding fluid only add 1/2 quart at a time until you notice fluid on the dipstick, always allow some time for fluid to stabilize (1-2 minutes), then recheck level] .A transaxle will need to be driven a short amount to bring the internal temperature up to normal operating range, Normal torque converter operation will heat the fluid in 1-2 miles of normal driving. • Can I put a lift kit on my 92 Plymouth Acclaim?
I want to put a Lift kit on my 1992 Plymouth Acclaim.
Answer:I own a shop, and think this; One can lift, or lower any vehicle for that matter, so yes you can put a lift kit on it. As far as getting a kit for your particular vehicle; you may have to settle on making some of the parts yourself. Springs you can get in any length you want. A word of caution though; if you lift it some by using taller wheels, it will throw off the speedometer, may cause the transmission to overheat, and you will encounter problems with alignment of the front end. These may, or may not be problems you can work around. I would suggest going to a truck website, and asking a few questions on doing this before you attempt to. You may change your mind after you see all that's involved in doing it successfully. Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!
