Latest Toyota Avalon Frequently Asked Questions:
What does this indicator light on my 1998 Toyota Avalon mean? It's a picture of a car with flashing lights on the rear end? I've checked all the lights in the rear of the car, even brake lights, and they all seem to be working.
Answer:Hello, It means that a tail light or brake light bulb has blown. If lit when the lights are on, that means tail light is blown. If lit when brake pedal is pressed, that means brake light is blown. Check again, if everything seems to be fine, there might be electrical problem. I have a 2006 Toyota Avalon with the Navigation systemand this Navigation system doesn't allow you full access to program destinations while driving. It is really annoying... you have to pull off the freeway and park somewhere to find/enter a destination. I know, some will say that I shouldn't be doing this while driving, but the passenger should be able to do use the system while I drive!. I have seen ways to get into a service menu on the Toyota Prius that allows you to disable the motion sensors and program it while driving, but the Avalon does not have the same type of navigation so I cannot use the same procedure. Does anyone know how to override the vehicle sensors on the Avalon Navigation? Or do you know how to get into the service menu? Thanks!
Answer:I checked the forums at edmonds.com and could not find any modifications to the navagation system that would allow this. Don't stop looking though, I am sure someone else has had this issue as well and at some time, someone will figure it out and post it on the web.
The antenna on my 2000 Toyota Avalon has decided to stop retracting. The motor still makes a noise as if it is trying to do something but nothing happens. How can I fix it?
Answer:buy a new antenna, get an after market electric antenna if your looking to save a buck or you could just replace it with a conventional car antenna.
-Unleaded Regular -Unleaded Plus or -Unleaded Supreme Which gas should I use for a 2007 Toyota Avalon XL? Keep in mind that it's a V6.
Answer:Generally speaking, unleaded regular will work if it is 87 octane. Watch out in the mountainous states, e.g. Utah as they reduce the octane level to 85 in many areas. They say the elevation reduces the need for higher numbers but if you don't stay there long enough for your on-board computer to reset, avoid it. There I use unleaded plus which is 88 octane. My Solara has the V6 and appreciates the higher octane.
My brake light is always on in my 1996 Toyota Avalon. Why is that? It's the light on the dash board.
Answer:if you're talking about the lights in the back, then you probably have a bad brake light switch. if you're talking about the light on the dash, then you need brake service.
