Latest Volkswagen Passat GLX Frequently Asked Questions:
I have a 2002 Volkswagen Passat GLX 4motion (b5.5). Right now it has projector halogen headlights. I wanted to put xenons in it. But OEM bi-xenons, the ones found in the Passat W8 cost about $800 from what I have found online. Would a xenon kit be a good alternative? Where would I find one that would be legal? Thanks! Just to note: I just bought the car used so buying a new one is not an option.
Answer:do youf self a favor and just let it the way it is as you see the conversion cost $800 and then what if it does not work you are out the $800 ... just drive it and be safe...... drive safe live long...
Its a 1995, Volkswagen Passat, VR6, GLX i mean what gap size!
Answer:bosch or NGK are both the best choices for european cars. decide whether you want iridium or copper plugs then find out what your motors plugs are gapped to stock and your set to buy them
I'm looking to get a car but cant decide whether to get either a passat glx, audi a4 or bmw 3 series. I know I'll get the most for the money if I get a passat glx because it has a 30 valve 190 hp v6 and every option you can think of. It even has front, side and curtain airbags. It also has rain sensing wipers. Audi's are similar but cost more, bmw's are nice but I feel like I'm paying mostly for the name. HELP!!!
Answer:Depending on what kind of equipment the A4 has, I would probably go for either the A4 or the Passat. The 3-Series is rather expensive as a used car, and the A4 and Passat, while still not cheap, are better buys. I'd probably lean towards the Passat, as it is roomier and a loaded model, and the A4 is probably a base 1.8T model. If the A4 were a 3.0 model, then the decision would be slightly more difficult.
Yea I have a 2000 VW Passat GLX 2.8 Auto and it randomly started making a bumping sound...when i shimmy the wheel to the right or accerate (making the weight transfer to the front right side of the car). I don't know if it's the chasis or a CV joint or tie rod or w/e. It has 135,000 miles. It's really annoying and it just started doing it randomly today. It's going in the shop Weds. anyways for a brake module replacement I'm hoping.
Answer:make sure when you take it in that they check for recalls, there was a recall issued for bad tie rod ends, originally that car came with aluminum tie rod ends that developed a lot of play, so the recall had dealers change the tie rods to steel, alternatively you can easily check that a magnet sticks to the tie rod end
GLX, VR6, V6
Answer:Although I wouldn't buy another Passat again, the 2000 Passat 4 cylinder turbo has been pretty reliable. It's got 126k miles on it and i've only had to replace the brakes once, tires twice and a couple of sensors. (tend to be pricey). Just not in love with the fact that everytime something does go wrong I have to bring it to the Volkswagon dealership to be fixed as there are not many authorized Volkswagon repair shops out there.
