The Volvo 700 and 900 series are two ranges of mid-size car manufactured by Volvo Cars in the 1980s and 1990s The 700 series was introduced in 1982 followed in 1990 by the 900 series The 700 designed by Jan Wilsgaard was originally to have been a replacement for the 200 series but production of that model continued The most visible differences between the 700 and the 900 series were the more rounded corners on the body of the latter and a somewhat better-appointed interior The 960 was substantially revised for the 1995 model year improving the handling The range was first augmented and finally supplanted by the Volvo 850 in 1993 with the last of the 900s being sold in 1998 Some 900 series were built as chassis for ambulances and hearses after the main production run had been completed The 760 was Volvo's attempt to cement a place in the prestige market after building a reputation for being solid and safe rather than out-and-out luxurious cars Jan Wilsgaard head…

  • How interchangeable are hoods and grills for Volvo 960?
I need a hood and grill for a 1993 Volvo 960. Can I take one from a 1995? And how about differant models. And if so What year can I go up to?
Answer:while this question is best answered with a "hollander interchange manual" at a salvage yard. the 960 grills, hood, and lamp assemblies will all bolt up and hook up electrically.between the years. meaning that if you purchase the hood and complete head-lamps grill, marker lights, valances etc. all from the same car it will all bolt right up to yours and look o.k. even if lamp styles are different from your model. note if your damaged car has headlamp wipers and the "new parts" are not from a car that had this option you will also loose this option as the headlamp assemblies are different at the bottom to accommodate the motor and brackets [this may only to american market models] by the same token if the "new parts have the option and your car did not it will still all bolt up but you will have to "find the harness disconnects on your wiring harness [yes they are there but hidden and taped back] you will also need the washer reservoire and related tubing check valve etc. and yes the wires will be found for the second pump motor.

  • How can I replace the water pump and steering pump on my 1996 Volvo 960?
I have a 1996 Volvo 960, wagon. I need to replace the steering and water pump on my wagon, and I am wondering if any how can give me instructions on how to do so... The steering is not smooth; the steering fluid foams.. and you can hear a whining sound when turning.
Answer:the water pump on this car is driven by the timing belt so follow timing belt replacement procedures for this, keeping in mind that you should also replace the belt, idler pulley, tension pulley, and gas-tensioner at the same time.once there the pump is held by 7 bolts and replacement is straightforward[gasket surfaces must be perfectly clean and as this is an interference fit [valve bender] engine the timing belt procedure must critically be adhered too. as for the power steering foamy fluid means one of two things, either you have a leak in the system [pump, hoses, rack. causing the pump to cavatate due to low fluid or someone added a fluid that doesn't belong, requiring a flush of the system [once again if fluid was added there is probabley a leak somewhere] if indeed the pump is found to be bad [very rare] after removing the serpintine belt tensioner the pump can be unbolted and removed. good luck

  • 1994 Volvo 960 - How do I reset an airbag on the car?
I am thinking about buying a used 1994 Volvo 960. The current owner hit the guy in front of him and the airbags went off and the passenger side one broke the windshield when this happened (bad design in my mind, but whatever). I can find airbags in a junkyard for about $300, the car is $1500 asking price, but do I need to re-set something to have them work again? There is no visible damage to the car, I have called a shop that specializes in imports, they have yet to get back to me. I called the local dealer and they seemed confused by this and have yet to call me back and I called Volvo USA who told me to call the dealer! For $1500 plus $300 (airbags) plus $200 (windshield) I could have a decent car, but I want the airbags to work and I have no idea if it means replacing a $500 module or pushing a reset button. Any ideas? THANKS for your input!
Answer:Only a body shop or a Volvo dealership can do this.

  • why would a 960 volvo 95 sedan blow oil out of the oil cap?
why would my car 960 volvo 95 sedan blow oil out of the oil cap , i was told that something was clogged up , what could it be.i was told that it be a black box near the positive crank vale what is that box?
Answer:Your engine has a PCV (Positive crankcase ventilator) It is a air release valve on the top of your Engine. If this is clogged, the pressure will try to escape from any other possible place. If your Cap holds to much pressure it will eventually blow the valve cover gasket. Check in the top back portion of your engine, it might have a hose going vertically into the top. look for leaking oil from it also.
