  • Volvo V70 or 850 Estate Cars, What are the top of the range models?
Im looking for a large Top of the range Volvo Estate car with every extra. What models should I be looking for? ( 1995/2002) Are they as as reliable & as economical as the old 80s 740s
Answer:I have a V70 c.'97. It's 2.5 litre, 20 valve petrol engine (4wd and turbo versions are available). Extras can include: roof rails, spoiler, alloys, air con, CD, leather trim seats, heated seats, electric mirrors and sun-roof, heated mirrors, boot cover (a blind to cover the contents of the boot), computer (mileage, avg consumption, etc), passenger airbag (side impact protection is standard), headlamp wipers, luggage compartment net (pulls up to roof from behind rear seats) child seats in the boot space (making 7 seats). Ours is coming up to 100,000 miles and runs well. There can be problems with rattles from the various panels in the boot. Some of these can be cured quite cheaply by a volvo specialist (doesn't have to be authorised dealer). Does about 27mpg (a lot of relatively short journeys, better on long runs), doesn't use much oil except on high-speed continental runs. Headlamp wipers can fail and can be costly (but can be lived without).

  • What's the difference between the Volvo V70 and 850 wagons?
I'm also interested in what the different sub-model tags like GLT, GLE, etc, mean. also the 760 wagon. basically, what sets all the wagons apart?
Answer:they are all nearly the same car to tell you the truth. all that is different is slight variances in the body make. if you look up the parts they will all be the same for any of these cars because the mechanics are basically the same. the v70 is just the newest, then the 850 and then the 760, glt, gle, and all that crap just means that they have either leather, turbos, power seats, cd players, and other luxuries, the car make is the same thing, except for the turbo, try to get one that has a turbo because it will be a lot more powerful and will keep up and be a lot faster than some cars on the street, the v70 and the 850 are exactly the same car, the v70 just has a nicer and sleaker looking body make, the 760 is the old style and the mechanics are easier to work with, the engine in the 850 and v70 are tighter and harder to work on but are the same thing, i would get the v70 because the inside and outside are a little better than the 850, I have a volvo 850 sedan, and i love it, the s70 is better because of the outside and inside but, they are really just the same car

  • How to replace volvo 1998 V70 starter?
I had some concerns about my volvo recently I found problems with my starter. In order to start the car I am forced to hit the starter by a hammer. I was wondering how can i replace volvo 1998 V70 starter> I would appreciated if you give me an adequate advice.
Answer:Its not that hard. #1 question does it have a egr valve? 1st remove air filter box than intake hose and than throttle body . disconnect negative battery cable. Remove the 2 egr bolts if it has egr vave and the exhaust pipe to egr valve and put valve to side . Remove wires to starter remove both mounting bolts Than remove the 12mm bolt that mounts the bracket in the rear of the starter to the engine block and remove starter and guide it toward where the air filter box was. Reinstall new starter in reverse except I remove and leave the rear mounting bracket off the new starter. Now something I would do if it was my car . If the car has over a 100,000 miles I personally would remove the intake manifold remove and clean the oil trap and clean the breather system and replace the starter at that time . It will take you an extra 2 hrs but it will save you some grief in the long run. Good luck

  • How do I adjust the headlights on a 2001 Volvo V70 Cross Country?
I just changed both headlights and need to adjust them. How do I do it? The manual gives you the typical "you have to bring it into the dealership and have the dealership rape you monitarily" schpeel. Can anyone help?
Answer:Mine was a pain to change but didn't need any adjustment. Try to ask this question on Matthew'svolvosite.com

  • Do the stock radios on a Volvo V70 have to be programmed by the dealership?
I just bought the car its a 2000 but the stereo doesnt work. Would it be easier to just replace the stock stereo for a regular one?
Answer:A lot of factory radio's in cars from the 90's up have a security code as anti-theft. Check this site out and maybe you can find the answer. http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/2009/03/17/volvo-radio-codes-explained/
